Fall 2015 Greetings

I am happy to report that I am adjusting well to my move to Minneapolis. The change, though feeling at first radical, continues to be challenging albeit stimulating, educating, and gratifying. There is an abundant wealth of music making here. I hope to contribute to it, and innovate because of it as well.

I remain committed to learning and premiering new repertoire. It keeps my fingers in training, my ears wide open, and my students better informed. Along these lines, Access To Music, launched in the Twin Cities, continues to grow and gain importance. Its last concert was held in Washington DC. The next one will be in the Twin Cities, to honor our 10th anniversary year. And then we travel to Chicago. The American Composers Forum featured my article introducing ATM to a larger musical world. It and much more information can be found on ATM's new website: www.accesstomusic.org.

With each passing season, I burrow even deeper into the works of Beethoven, especially in regard to his use of trills in the sonatas. I admit to being lopsided in my repertoire at this juncture. But what a wonderful place to capsize, should that happen

As always, my best wishes for a prosperous musical, academic or personal fall and winter season. I welcome hearing from you whenever you might have a thought to share.
